The former Liverpool manager admits coming back to manage Liverpool is plausible in theory.

Jurgen Klopp, who departed from Liverpool in 2024, has suggested that returning someday is an option. Klopp, after a transformative nine-season tenure that included Champions League success and ending the club's long wait in 30 years, has since taken on positions in a global football capacity for Red Bull and as an advisor with the German Football League.

Fan Sentiment and Klopp’s Candid Remarks

Liverpool won England's top flight under Arne Slot, yet numerous supporters who revere Klopp would be thrilled by the possibility that he might come back one day. During an extensive chat, he shared with the podcast host: “I stated I will never coach a different club within the country. Therefore should it be the Reds...yes. In theory, it could happen.”

“Being 58, that means I might decide later on, who knows. Do I have to make the decision today? If so, I wouldn't return. Luckily, it's not necessary. I can just see what lies ahead.”

Conditions for a Comeback

Pressed on the specific conditions must arise to bring him back to the dugout, Klopp admitted he isn't eager to such a return. “It's unclear to me, I enjoy my current role,” he stated. “I don’t miss coaching; I don’t miss standing in the rain for lengthy sessions; I'm glad to skip interviews multiple times weekly or doing numerous chats a week.

“No nostalgia for the changing area as a dressing room, yet sharing a meal with the players having a nice chat, that’s nice. With many victories so there was often a very good mood at the club. I still have Virgil [Van Dijk’s] laugh in my ear for example.”

Commending Arne Slot

He commended of the current boss, crediting him for the tweaks that won the league last campaign. The team has suffered four in a row across various tournaments after a summer spending spree, though he denied the notion it could be a decline.

“[Liverpool have] a top-class attacker in Flo[rian] Wirtz, critics will regret with negative comments. A remarkable prospect. Ekitike, excellent performer. This is a well-built well-judged squad. No need for concern about Liverpool, things will improve.”

Heartfelt Words for the Late Forward

Klopp also spoke emotionally regarding the passing of Diogo Jota, a player he signed while in charge, and the effect at the club. The forward was killed in a vehicle collision alongside his brother this past summer.

“Who can fill the void of somebody like Diogo? This isn't just regarding his on-field talent, it’s the guy he was. It's hard to picture the squad without him in it. I find it difficult to discuss regarding this. A devastating blow for the entire squad also. No one within the club will ever use it as an excuse but it is the situation. You walk in a dressing room which he filled completely. Coping with it individually is difficult. Unbearable.”
