Renowned Actor Pat Finn, Famed For Appearances in Friends and The Middle, Dies at 60 Years Old.

American actor Finn, who appeared in iconic television series such as Friends, Seinfeld and "The Middle", has passed away at the age of 60.

The skilled improv artist passed away at his residence in LA this Monday after undergoing treatment for a cancer diagnosis from 2022 onward, as reported by news outlets.

"He saw everyone as a friend - solely future friends he hadn't encountered," his family shared in a announcement.

They continued that he had "embraced life completely - with joy and exuberance".

An Extensive TV Career

His initial on-screen part was on the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he portrayed the brother of the main character.

He subsequently landed a repeating character on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.

He appeared as a party host named Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in 1998, playing a host who would assign tedious tasks to his guests.

Throughout the 90s and 2000s, he had guest spots on a variety of well-known programs, such as:

  • "King of Queens"
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • House, M.D.

Finn was perhaps best known for playing the character Bill Norwood in The Middle, starring in eight series over nearly a decade.

His work in movies encompass It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.

A Life in Improv

Beyond his on-screen roles, Finn was an improv performer and worked as a teacher at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.

He was part of a comedy group of six known as "Beer Shark Mice".

"Pat taught, supported, and inspired many learners during his career and it's nearly impossible to find a person anyplace who has anything negative to say about him," his loved ones expressed.

Offering condolences, peer Richard Kind remarked there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, grounded individual you could encounter".

"Perpetually optimistic, making those around him better and funnier. An excellent dad and person," he posted online.

Pat Finn is survived by his partner Donna, his three kids, and his parents and siblings.
