More than two weeks after the tragic deaths of esteemed film director Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues persist in remembering the pair.

A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director

Posting on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, explained he only now felt ready to express about his personal sorrow.

"Adequate time has elapsed that I can finally articulate my loss into words," shared Elwes, noting that his first meeting with Reiner left him smitten. "When we commenced spending more time together I understood this was someone I wanted in my life."

The actor uploaded never-before-seen clips from the movie, remarking that he doesn't recollect "a single day without laughter".

"The movie is about affection, allegiance and giving. Things that Rob valued immensely. This is one of the many reasons he was the best person to helm it," Elwes wrote.

He went on to praise Michele Reiner, noting: "To say that they were a formidable pair would be an oversimplification. My heart still pangs every time I recall you." He finished with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."

Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Friend and Collaborator

In a distinct essay, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.

"Right away, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese shared.

Scorsese highlighted Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the protagonist.

"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked beautifully with the cast, and he understood the human predicament of his character," Scorsese wrote.

Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Restricted

This week, a Los Angeles judge agreed to bar the release of the Reiners' autopsy reports, after an appeal from the local authorities.

A court order issued a security hold on the files to limit the public release of "related notes, evidence and photographs" connected to the probe.

The coroner's office had already determined their deaths were the outcome of homicide, with a official listing listing the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".

Response and Criticism

Following the tragedy, public figures offered varying responses.

Former President Donald Trump commented on the matter, making divisive statements that were widely condemned by several public figures.

Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his criticism to the those speaking out recently. Speaking on his program, Rogan described the remarks as "disturbing" and suggested they showed a worrisome lack of empathy.
